7 Daily Self-Care Habits for a Healthier, More Peaceful You

Over the years, I’ve learned that how I start my day significantly impacts my overall well-being.

That’s why I’ve created a set of daily morning routine that help me feel grounded, energized, and spiritually nourished. These simple yet powerful habits have transformed my health, mindset, and overall quality of life.

Here’s a peek into my daily routine—perhaps you’ll find some inspiration for your own journey!

1. Grounding: Connecting with Nature

The first thing I do after waking up is head to the park near our home, about half a kilometer away.

I walk barefoot on the grass, sand, and soil, fully immersing myself in nature’s embrace.

Feeling the cool earth beneath my feet and the fresh morning breeze against my skin is incredibly rejuvenating. Grounding (also known as earthing) has been shown to reduce inflammation, improve sleep, and relieve stress. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it!

2. Daily Bible Journal: Strengthening My Faith

I began journaling in 2015, and this year, I’ve revived the habit—this time focus on the Bible.

Starting my day by reading God’s word, reflecting on it, and writing down my thoughts has been life-changing. My journal entries always include a prayer, setting the tone for my day with gratitude and spiritual clarity. With God’s grace, I strive to feel His presence throughout my day.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar or Lemon with Ginger in Warm Water

Before breaking my fast, I prepare a simple yet effective drink: one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar or lemon with ginger mixed into warm water. This helps maintain a healthy gut, improves digestion, and supports overall wellness. It’s a small habit with big health benefits!

4. Fasted Workout or Strength Training

At least once a week, I engage in a fasted workout or strength training session. Exercising in a fasted state helps increase metabolism, enhance fat burning, and improve insulin sensitivity. Whether it’s weightlifting or bodyweight exercises, this practice keeps me strong and energized.

Please do not do this when you are in the luteal phase of your menstrual cycle. Luteal phase is 14 days before your menstruation.

5. Daily Book Summary Reading (Blinkist or AcceleratED)

Lifelong learning is a priority for me. I dedicate time each day to reading book summaries from Blinkist or AcceleratED, focusing on self-development, leadership, psychology, and healthy living.

These platforms provide 15-minute to one-hour summaries that feel like reading an entire book.

This habit helps me expand my knowledge and sharpen my skills in both my personal and professional life.

6. Memorizing One Bible Verse Per Week

To deepen my faith, I’ve incorporated a new practice—memorizing one Bible verse each week. This not only strengthens my spiritual foundation but also helps me navigate life’s challenges with wisdom and peace.

Reciting scripture keeps my mind focused only on God's truth and his words, calms intrusive thoughts, and reinforces my trust in God’s plan.

7. Dry Brushing for Lymphatic Drainage

Every night, I engage in dry brushing—a simple yet effective ritual that stimulates the lymphatic system, exfoliates the skin, removes toxins, and boosts circulation. It also helps reduce cellulite and increases energy flow.

This practice has become an essential part of my self-care routine, ensuring I wind down with a sense of renewal.

Final Thoughts

These daily rituals keep me balanced, both physically, spiritually and mentally.

They serve as my anchors, ensuring I prioritize my well-being while staying spiritually aligned. If any of these habits resonate with you, I encourage you to give them a try!

Small, consistent actions can lead to profound transformations.
